Abstract
La piel del tambor (1995), one of the many novels by Spaniard Arturo Prez-Reverte, provides an interesting literary text for the application of postmodern evaluation. When examined from this perspective, La piel del tambor says much in regard to contemporary society, and the forces which drive it. The elements of postmodernism in La piel del tambor include unanticipated combinations of seemingly disparate elements, a mixing of historical eras, a lack of distinction between high and low art and culture, new perspectives on religion, faith and the church, and reflections on the role of the computer and the Internet in todays world. This thesis examines these elements and contextualizes them within the theoretical framework of postmodern thought.
