Abstract
This qualitative, phenomenological-based study of the risk and resilience experiences of Latinx trans and non-binary (TNB) individuals seeks to fill a gap in the literature regarding an emic, strengths-based understanding of the Latinx TNB community. Fifteen individuals who identified as Latinx and TNB were interviewed regarding their experiences of risk and resilience in response to ongoing, chronic stress due to the intersection of transprejudice, racism, and other forms of oppression. Five contextual domains were identified, within which participants reported experiencing both risk and resilience-based influences. This study has many implications for the areas of future research, clinical practice, and advocacy with the Latinx TNB community.
