Abstract
The project proposes a therapeutic rehabilitation garden for the Milledgeville State Hospital, designed to aid in the recovery of mental health patients through interaction with nature. The garden is intended to be both functional and aesthetically pleasing, emphasizing seasonal interest, low maintenance, and patient involvement in gardening activities. 10-acre site near the Rivers Building complex. The design goals were to encourage patient participation in planting and maintenance, provide therapeutic benefits through contact with nature, and enhance hospital grounds visually. Flower beds and shrub borders, including a section for blind patients, open lawns, shaded sitting areas, and naturalistic walking paths, shelter for 100 people with restrooms and terrace, plus parking for cars and buses.
