Abstract
This thesis presents a comprehensive proposal for developing a new athletic field on the University of Georgia campus. The University of Georgia was undergoing expansion, including a new multi-purpose coliseum. The proposed athletic field was intended to support varsity sports, physical education, and intramural activities. The site, a 53.2-acre tract bordered by Lumpkin Street, Pinecrest Street, Ag. Drive, and Carlton Street, previously housed married student apartments. The design intend is to relocate the track and tennis courts to optimize space and visibility, use of existing trees and informal plantings to enhance aesthetics, and parking designed to serve both the coliseum and athletic field.
