Abstract
This qualitative inquiry, rooted in decoloniality, cultural, and critical epistemologies, and methodologies, challenges the dearth of attention to housing instability and displacement
induced via gentrification among the Latine community within our field of counseling
psychology. This study challenges the monolithic understanding of Latinas overall (Delgado-
Bernal, 1998). Rooted in the wisdom of a three-women-led Community Advisory Board, eight
working-class Latinas were part of three Culturally Responsive Focus Groups (CRFGs) (Hall,
2020) and engaged in pláticas in English and Spanish, offered their testimonios within the
pláticas offering their knowledge to promote a total of five themes and subthemes, derived
utilizing Reflective Thematic Analysis (RTA) (Braun & Clarke, 2021). The themes and
subthemes, along with photo-elicitation, exemplify the gravity of housing displacement and their
resistance against it. This study has various implications for our field and our commitments to
engaging in clinical practice, research, and advocacy that promotes liberation and justice.
