Abstract

The equine industry in Georgia is a rapidly growing segment of Georgia agriculture. In 2003, the equine industry generated $376 million, placing it fifth place in the Farm Gate report. In terms of importance, the equine industry has grown 531 percent from 1999 to 2003. Various states other than Georgia have conducted economic importance studies of equine in their respective states; the results show how equine are becoming major agricultural players in their states overall economy and positively impacting the quality of life. The economic value of the trail riding and boarding stable sectors will be represented by this research project.
