In part I, the first total synthesis of (+)-komaroviquinone and (+)-komarovispirone were acheieved. The key reaction for the preparation of (+)-komaroviquinone featured a bromohydrin reaction to install the benzylic oxygen. (+)-komarovispirone was successfully rearranged to (+)-komaroviquinone under photochemical condition.In part II, studies toward the synthesis of dolastane natural products were carried out.
