Abstract

The term “intestinal integrity” is difficult to define and yet absolutely critical in the conversion of feed to food. The efficiency of nutrient digestion and absorption is limited by the functional surface area of the intestinal tract which is itself dependant on the development and maintenance of a healthy intestinal lining. In this article Dr Fred Hoer, a well respected specialist discusses the nebulous topic of Intestinal Integrity in Broilers.
