Abstract

Much has been written recently about the death of the novel as a form of popular culture. This thesis explores the single case of The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Daz, and what this novel reveals about the enduring power of the form. The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao demonstrates the novels ability to adapt to changing environments such as the growth of nonfiction as a popular form and the emergence of new popular culture and technologies.
