Abstract
The present study provides the first simultaneous examination of changes in worker values and work characteristics. Using the Hierarchical Age-Period-Cohort (HAPC) model, this study provides evidence of changes over time that are attributable to the aging process, generations, and/or the context of time period. This model is applied to the General Social Survey, a nationally representative database which includes relevant data on full-time workers. The results show that worker values and work characteristics are affected by age, time period, and generational cohort, with more changes being associated with time period rather than birth year.
