Abstract

Inorganic perovskite is a family of materials that can exhibit piezoelectric and ferroelectric properties. The nano structuring of this materials can help with the directly related to applications ranging from capacitors to non-volatile random-access memory. Here we describe a templated growth approach to synthesizing nanosheets of these materials, mainly focusing on PbTiO3, BaTiO3, and SrTiO3. The template is (TBA)1.07Ti1.73O4, a well-known 2D-nanostructured analog of TiO2(B). Nanosheets of tetragonal PbTiO3 were synthesized by a hydrothermal approach while the nanosheets of BaTiO3 and SrTiO3 were synthesized by a solid-state reaction using a Schlenk tube vessel. In this paper, I will be detailing the optimized synthetic approaches that yielded the best nanosheets of our inorganic perovskites as well as the property studies done on the materials.
