Abstract
Topological Data Analysis (TDA) is a quickly evolving methodology of investigating the structure of data. We use a method from TDA called Persistent Homology to identify features of atmospheric pressure waves over an area of 42.5N - 80N latitudes with the intent to visualize waves known as Rossby waves. These waves are associated with pressure systems and the jet stream and are involved in extreme weather patterns that have been observed in the northern hemisphere. The persistent homology of these atmospheric pressure waves will lead to several new ways to visualize the waves created via the atmosphere.
