Abstract
Peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) seed quality can be determined by germination percentage, vigor, and seed health. A study was conducted to evaluate management strategies and their effects on seed produced. Field trials were conducted in 2018 and 2019 to evaluate fungicide programs, harvest dates, and cultivars on pod maturity, plant health, yield and grade. Disease incidence was impacted with high-input fungicide programs. Harvest date affected pod maturity and yield. To investigate seed quality, trials were conducted in 2019 and 2020 planting seed produced from prior year management strategy trials. For both years, harvest date affected percent germination, cold germ, and plant vigor. In 2019 trials, seed quality varied by cultivar. Seed germination and cold germ percentages were affected by fungicide programs and harvest date in 2020. Overall, inconsistencies in seed quality were observed across years, however, fungicide management practices and optimal harvest date proved beneficial for production of quality seed.
