Abstract
Errollyn Wallen and Tania León are two of the many Black women composers who have made meaningful and important contributions to the guitar literature. Though their work is important, social conditions and circumstances have made it such that they have received less attention and notoriety for their work. As a result, their works for solo guitar are less often performed when compared with other composers although their compositions are substantial in length and scope. To advocate for greater inclusion of their compositions, this document serves as both a pedagogical analysis and performances for some of the solo guitar works by Errollyn Wallen and Tania León. The document provides an overview of these works and detailed commentary about how to create expressive and dynamic interpretations of these compositions.
