Abstract

As Georgia’s bridge infrastructure ages, it is important to ensure a high level of safety is maintained. A previous reliability analysis of Georgia’s bridges is further investigated to assess the accuracy of live load data as well as what structural conditions most affect a bridge’s operating rating and ultimately, its reliability index. Live loads were determined using the data collected by Weigh-in-Motion systems while bridge operating ratings were determined using data recorded in the National Bridge Inventory. A quality control analysis is performed for all WIM sites active in Georgia between 2019 and 2021. An analysis is also conducted to determine which bridge elements most affect a bridge’s operating rating. Finally, an analysis is performed on a sample of the previously determined low reliability index bridges in Georgia to determine what variables are most likely the cause of a low reliability index.
