Abstract

While collaborating as a team, team members usually have positive or negative experiences witheach other. In this work, we consider a human-robot team to measure how the robot can assess a human based on the interactions. We present an interaction model of a robot’s trust in the human by assessing whether the robot has a positive or a negative experience with the human. This model defines a psychological trust-building model which translates to a computationally accessible format. We hypothesize predictors of a positive experience with the human and derive trust for individual humans. As the number of interactions increases, team members develop a certain level of belief and affinity to work together. The affinity towards the human can be measured as kinship. We also present how kinship affects trust, distrust and uncertainty.
