Abstract
The project proposes the design of a horse-centered country club in western Gwinnett County, Georgia, near Atlanta. Inspired by the popularity of horse boarding and weekend family visits, the club aims to offer multi-generational recreational facilities, similar in appeal to golf-centered clubs. The land was historically owned by the Burns family, prominent slaveholders in the 19th century, and the site has traces of Cherokee presence and lies along the historic Hightower Trail. The site spans 87 acres of farmland with varied topography, creeks, and vegetation, it is naturally divided into three pastures (front, middle, rear) and includes existing stables and riding rings. The challenge is to unify diverse recreational areas into a cohesive, functional, and aesthetically pleasing designs.
