Intermediate, and even advanced level Latin students, rarely read texts outside of the traditional, classical Latin canon. It is understandable that students primarily receive their training with authors such as Vergil and Caesar. However, the study of epigraphic materials, or inscriptions, is a valuable tool for students to simultaneously engage with language, history, and archaeology. The purpose of this project is to provide students and teachers with materials to facilitate the study of Latin inscriptions, starting at an intermediate level, while still being suitable for advanced students. The inscriptions featured in this project were not only selected for their readability but also their diverse subject matter, which encourages students to conceptualize Ancient Rome as a diverse, plural society.
