Abstract
The Athens Housing Authority (AHA) invited CED to lead a public design charrette for residents for their first foray into a public-private partnership to redevelop an existing 37-acre site into a mixed-income, affordable, energy-efficient and sustainable housing development. The charrette produced two master plan alternatives that both included multi-family and senior housing communities in a combination of two-story townhouses and single-story flats, a “village green,” community centers and multiple outdoor active and passive recreation spaces.
