Abstract

In the field of nanotechnology, some of the most intriguing materials are those only a single atom thick. These two-dimensional materials, such as graphene and hexagonal boron nitride, can be strong and stable, but are still difficult to manipulate effectively. Thus, characterizing two-dimensional materials poses an extreme challenge to modern experimental techniques. To rectify this, models of several types of two-dimensional materials are created here, and then explored by running simulated mechanical tests in order to properly determine the properties of these materials under a variety of conditions.
