Abstract
Ellamae Ellis League and Jean League Newton were a mother-daughter duo who practiced architecture together in Macon, Georgia during the twentieth century. League trained in the Beaux-Arts tradition, while Newton trained under leaders of the modern movement at Harvard University in the 1940s. When Newton joined League’s firm after finishing school, she brought the influence of the modern movement to Macon. Together, the span of their almost seventy years career left an impact on Macon’s built environment. However, Newton’s contributions have not been documented to the same extent as her mother’s.
