Abstract

This paper derives the optimal behavior patterns of donors who give to the athletic associations of public universities and receive season football tickets in return. Dynamic program- ming techniques are used to derive this behavior. Data are obtained from a large public university to verify that donor behavior is consistent with the predicted behavior from the model. The model is then used to derive athletic association policies that maximize expected donations.
