This thesis examines four separate biblical texts. Scholars have long noted similarities between the rape accounts in Genesis 19, Genesis 34, Judges 19, and II Samuel 13. The work herein shows the dialogical interaction between the four scenes. Further, this examination suggests that the scenes create a progressive narrative movement that provides commentary on Israels kingship. Ultimately, I suggest that the final scene, II Samuel 13, signals the end of Israels united monarchy.
