Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect that experiential learning, utilizing multimedia learning tools, has on fashion students knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors towards sustainability in fashion manufacturing. The experiential learning activity for this study was an educational exhibition entitled Fashion & Sustainability. This experimental study measured the learning outcomes between two groups of undergraduate students enrolled in fashion courses in the Department of Textiles, Merchandising, and Interiors at the University of Georgia. Findings from this study suggest that both groups of students were the most knowledgeable about environmental and social sustainability in fashion manufacturing and the least knowledgeable about economic sustainability. Both groups held positive attitudes towards sustainable fashion, and both planned to become sustainable fashion consumers and implement sustainable practices into their future careers in the fashion industry after they viewed the exhibition.
