Abstract
This thesis explores the principles of interpretation and seeks to apply them to the creation of a concept plan for a recreational area with many layers of significance historically, geologically, ecologically, and culturally. With development everywhere increasingly looking the same, it is particularly important that we see the significance of our spaces and use them to further our education. The ultimate goals of this thesis study are to create a design that elucidates some of the many stories connected to the site and to present them to the visitors through design strategies and innovative methods rather than just through facts on a stick. The findings from background research and case studies are synthesized and applied to the Nannys Mountain site.
