Abstract

This project studies the role of the chain length of the self assembled monolayers (SAMs) in enhancing the sensitivity of nanorod modified electrodes for glucose detection. SAMs chain length has significant effect on the performance of a biosensor. It determines the distance between GOx enzymes and the degree of coverage of SAMs on the electrode which all directly affect the glucose detection sensitivity. An optimized selection of chain length of SAMs can improve the sensitivity of glucose detection. Two different chain lengths are used to detect glucose concentration and calculate their detection sensitivity. The results are analyzed to find out which chain length of SAMs is better for glucose detection with nanorod modified electrode.
