Abstract

In this thesis, I examine how vision functions in Kate Chopins The Awakening. Vision, as it is used here, refers to an individuals perspective and their view of the world, not just physical sight. Ultimately, I argue that Ednas narcissistic vision keeps her from being able to see beyond her present state and conceive of a future for herself, which leads to her suicide.
