Abstract
An ecological planting approach is beneficial to the environment but also requires a better means of educating and engaging the public. This thesis explores the scientific mechanism of ecological planting and analyzes expression strategies in the design realm in order to better express the concept of process through the integration of ecological planting with design. Relevant cases are reviewed and the vernacular ecological process in the southern Piedmont is analyzed, providing a concept proposal applied to the University of Georgias North Campus quad.
