Abstract
During the past few decades, a new genre of literature arose from the socially evolving writers of the twentieth century. The project of this thesis is to establish the existence of the genre transvestite literature through the analysis of the novel Sirena Selena. Through this analysis I have attempted to display the unique use of sequence, literary devices, language and structure that define this literary work by Mayra Santos-Febres. I propose that this novel serves as an example of the transvestite novel, but also as a literary artifact of the transvestite genre.
