Licenses

UGA Open Scholar provides a number of license options. The license option determines what others may do with your scholarly materials or research data, ranging from a broad license to do whatever they like (i.e., CC0, PDDL) to a narrow one that restricts non-commercial use and prevents distribution of derivative works (i.e., CC-BY-NC-ND).

Researchers are encouraged to select the most open license for their scholarly materials and research data. In cases where researchers are working with the UGA Innovation District and/or research outputs are expected to be patented or licensed for commercial purposes, researchers are encouraged to select CC-BY-NC or higher.

If you need help selecting a license, please contact the Research and Computational Data Management team who can provide additional guidance.
